I recently discovered that I can use my camera, a Canon G9, to do Time-Lapse photography. The difficulty is that I have had to use it tethered, with the Remote Capture software on the laptop controlling the image acquisition. Lugging the laptop everywhere, as well as the tripod, camera and a book to read whilst the script is running was really beginning to do my back in

No need to take the laptop any more.

I have found the CHDK – the Canon Hack Development Kit. I’ve got a couple of the scripts loaded, and now I can run Time Lapse scripts from with the camera itself. Having great fun exploring the camera’s huge range of new capabilities.
