Had to go over to Oxford on Tuesday for a meeting at the John Radcliffe. Got the train from Paddington, and an odd train it was too. Half the occupants were Japanese tourists, off to view the Dreaming Spires. The rest were in the most part Post Grads and Profs. Next to me, someone reading a paper on Twistor Theory. Across the passageway a hefty tome on Evolution. I was sitting with my laptop, trying to finish off the formatting of a section for the manual I’m working on – writing the Protocols and Procedures for all the assessments we do, and writing it using \LaTeX. I just couldn’t quite get the code snippet right. Someone walking past bent down, pointed to the screen and said ‘That expression needs to go in the Maths environment’. Only on the Oxford train
